More Prom::2001-04-22-1:36 p.m. More on prom and yesterday: I got up about noon 15 and got on the computer and talked to people until Courtney called and ordered me to get dressed so she could pick me up. So I got dressed and got back on the computer. Note that there was no breakfast involved. I didn't eat until four, when Dad threatened to turn off the comp unless I ate, when I wasn't even hungry. So Court came and got me and I had to say goodbye to Anna and go to Springfest. We got there half an hour before we were supposed to work at the GSA booth, so we split up. She went to the Freethinkers booth for controversial bumperstickers, and I went to the used bookstore, one of the best places on Dickson Street. I love it. Anyway, I was looking for Lois McMaster Bujold, but they only had Shards of Honor (I know I should italicize. I'm lazy), so I bought Pawn of Prophesy by David Eddings and a couple of XF books. Spent nearly $17. It made me happy :) After that, I wandered up to the GSA booth and saw Patrick and Mal. They had rainbow stickers, and they stickered my shirt in well, strategic places. Anyway, Court showed up shortly after and Patrick and Mal took a break (Mal was leaning on me and nearly falling asleep) and I got the Sacred Roll of Rainbow Stickers and gleefully stickered the population. Most were amenable, even eager to get stickers. I had to give strategic stickers to one woman. That was disconcerting. Some people were snippy about saying no, and one guy took it, looked at it, looked at our "Got Queer?" poster (it was cool, talked about the contribution of g/l/b/t people to history), looked frantically for somewhere else to stick it, and finally handed it back saying "I can't do rainbows." Poor guy. A couple of people came by and encouraged others to take stickers; I made them deputy stickerers and sent them off down the street with a long strip of stickers. We stickered lots of dogs' collars too. It was fun. After that, I felt pretty good. We took someone home and then I sat through Court's hair appointment, reading my books. Then I went home and got on the comp and readied myself for prom. Patrick and Mal and Mo came and we took lots of pictures and did the corsage/buttoniere thing. I had to pin on both of the guys' flowers because Mal + pins = bad. My corsage was little cream colored roses. It was pretty. I pinned up my hair, but only the right side would stay, but it didn't look bad. So we went to Tontitown the long way, on all these little twisty Arkansas hill roads. We got to the restaurant early, so we drove down to Elm Springs and back just for fun. Patrick was driving Mal's car because she couldn't drive in her dress and Moses (Patrick's truck) doesn't have enough seats. So we got back and went to dinner with Jared and his date Donna. Dinner was nice. Rather too full of oil for my taste. The salad was drowning in it, and my lasagna had this big wad of cheese on it that I could barely cut through. I only ate about half of it. But it was tasty. Mal felt sortof sick after dinner, but she was okay for a while. Then we went to the dance. We stood in the line for pictures, but it was hugely long. I saw Amanda in the line and went to show her my frogs tights, and so I talked to her. We gave up after a while, so I said hi to Merin and Liz, who poked me in the arm with her order sheet to say hi. Liz is beautiful, and I wish I'd made friends with her earlier. So we walked under the arch of Christmas lights and went into the ballroom to prom. It was disappointingly normal, as I said yesterday. I had fun after a while. Tammy and Erica and Courtney and Mandy and I escaped to the stairwell and sat and talked where there was light. Then we went out and danced to "Just Like a Little Prayer," which I can't find on Napster. Grrr. Once, on a slow dance, we danced in a ring around Jamie and Tammy. Poor Jamie. He's adorable, but so predicatable. And he's so tall and lanky that he can't dance. It's funny and sweet. Court decided she had to talk to me. Apparently she thought that I held the fact that she'd gotten the grant against her, which I don't, and that I thought she'd only gotten the grant because she had money, which I didn't. What I said was that she was the only one of those of us who applied who didn't need the grant to go because she had money already. Erica came and talked to us too. She's pretty cool...one of my very few X-Philes. We left before it was over, despite the fact that we'd gotten there only about an hour and 15 mins. earlier. That was fine with me. We went to Village Inn for pie and such. Patrick and Mo are so cute together :) And Mo likes TXF, as I've said. Hehehe. I forsee many conversations in the future. Only Radwa and Erica will ever talk XF with me :( In RL that is. I digress. After we spit ice cubes at all our GSA people at the next table, we went and took pictures in the Saturn dealership parking lot. Mo and I found this huge bunch of balloons in the dumpster, so we took pics with them. It was much fun. Then I came home and updated. Only the scrincy orange balloon and the green one survived the trip home hanging out the window. But my champage glass with the prom theme and picture printed on it didn't shatter, and I didn't lose my bag. Yaaay. After I updated, I went to bed and finished the bit of Nell's and my story I've been working on. I should have pictures very soon from prom. Yaaay. Today I got up at about 1. My philosophy: the later I sleep on Sunday, the less time it is until TXF (!) and the less chores I'll be forced to waste my time on. Isn't it a good one? I got a nice email from Sammi today. She doesn't hate me :D It's her stupid parentals that are influencing her judgement. Her dad is really really anti-gay/bi, and if they ever found out that I was bi, the shit would hit the fan. So that's why she took me and Anna off her links, etc. Poor Sammi. I shall run away now and grace Sache's diary. Hehehe. And join more rings! I love diaryrings. %%commentscount%% whispers in the dark Lovings: %%option1%%
